iPhone: Activate a more pleasant red light. In Settings, find Accessibility – Accessibility Shortcut, check Color Filters here. Now, in the section Accessibility - Display and text size - Color filters - Color tinting, move the Intensity and Hue sliders to the right. Triple-press the home button or the power button (depending on iPhone model and iOS version) to now turn on red light mode.

Even the color inversion mode is gentler on your eyes in the dark compared to normal display backlighting. You can find it on iPhones with iOS 11 and later in Settings - Accessibility - Display and text size. Here you can choose between Smart Invert (inverts colors except for images, media and selected apps) or Classic Invert.
